Our Story

Meli Co. was born from the quiet magic of beekeeping experienced when you stand beside a hive and watch thousands of honeybees moving in harmony. What began as curiosity grew into a calling, guided by the wisdom of a North Shore mentor who showed that caring for bees is really an act of caring for the ʻāina itself.

In the hive, everything works together. Every movement has purpose. Every member supports the whole. And in many ways, this mirrors life in Hawaiʻi. On islands where space is precious and every resource is shared, harmony is not just beautiful, it's essential.

We realized that while we ask so much of these pollinators; our food, our flowers, our landscapes we give them very little in return. So Meli Co. was created to offer an exchange: safe, thriving habitats in the places we often overlook. Unused rooftops. Quiet courtyards. Hidden corners of our urban skyline. Spaces that, with a bit of care, can become living sanctuaries that benefit both bees and the communities around them.

By turning underutilized spaces into pollinator homes, we not only support declining bee populations but help our urban areas flourish and celebrate what makes these islands unlike anywhere else in the world. Gardens grow fuller. Trees fruit more abundantly. Guests and employees feel more connected to the environment around them. And the story of sustainability becomes something authentic.
